Late-breaking News from 2016 Convention

Dan Nicholson, director of this summer’s convention in Fredericksburg, Texas, has announced that the SWPC has a special guided tour of the Mooney Plant in Kerrville set up from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 30th, the last day of the convention.

“Looks like we will have a large number of people driving to Fredericksburg for the convention,” Dan said, “so we will try to car pool down to Kerrville. However, if we get a large group for the tour, I suggest we may hire a van or a bus.” Dan said he’d make that call earlier in the week during the convention when more numbers are known.

“We may take those who want to tour the Mooney plant and drop them off for the 1-1/2 hour tour and then take others to the James Avery jewelry factory and visitor center to shop, then gather everyone up, stop for a quick lunch downtown, and then head back to the Hangar Hotel,” he added.

“The Poker Run (which started in the morning) should be done by then,” Dan said, since the tour group would be back around 3 p.m.

The convention is planning a memorial fly-by Thursday afternoon in honor of Bob Fuller, founder and first president of the SWPC, who died in April. The fly-by will be about 4 p.m., prior to the reception that is planned to start at 5 p.m., followed by the banquet at 6.

“All this should end up as a fun-filled day for all,” Dan said.
