SWP Scholarship Applicants Take Note!

The 31st of May is an exciting time for me as the Short Wing Piper Education Foundation Director.  That is the date I must have all hard copies of scholarship applications in my hand to sort out and make recommendations to the Short Wing Piper Club Board of Directors. The only exception for the 31st deadline is your grade transcript.  I realize this is had to get so close to the end of the school year, but I need to know when it will be available. That is the only incomplete portion of the scholarship application I will accept.

One of the main requirements for a scholarship applicant is that they have a Short Wing Piper Club member or chapter sponsor.  The application requirements and applications are available through our web site or via email.  I use this email address exclusively for scholarship correspondence.  [email protected].  I check this email address once a day and I will do my best to answer any questions that same day.  I will do my best to help you with your application.

Our membership has been very benevolent this past year, financially supporting the Short Wing Piper Education Foundation, and we are excited to award scholarship monies to the most deserving young people who are seeking a career in aviation.  On behalf of our scholarship recipients, thanks to the Short Wing Piper Club membership who have supported the Short Wing Piper Education Foundation.

Who would have every thought when I was learning to fly that I would be the Education Foundation Director of this great type aircraft club?  I learned to fly in a Piper Colt, N 5974 Z at Ft. George G. Meade Field at Baltimore, Maryland in 1966.  That airplane is still in service, as far as I know, and lives in the St. Louis, Missouri area.  Boy, am I every grateful to those forward thinking individuals who put together that military flying club, and allowed me the opportunity to get my pilot’s license!   If our scholarship students feel the way I do about the founders of this flying club, I am sure we will have the same effect on their lives too!
